moreHuman in de spotlight - door James Bampfield
Over the years, I think that all of the Quinx partners have broadened their horizons in terms of work and mission – a bit like an aging rock band (!) who stay together but also pursue solo projects and different collaborations within the band.
Ever since I started working with politicians about 10 years ago, I have been inspired by their idealism and their ‘let’s change the world’ spirit. (Yes, in my experience politicians are idealists at heart!) I kept feeling the need to cast my net wider and approach societal problems more directly. First came the Crossing, now comes moreHuman…
AND I still adore Leading by Being, the Councils, all my usual work.
Starting moreHuman a year and a half ago was for Micky and myself a step into the unknown. We had a very rough idea of the What and virtually no idea of the How.
Since then, it has been extraordinary to watch how it has grown. On Saturday 70 people showed up in Brussels for our fifth ‘morehuman happening’ and we have consistently attracted 30% new people. We have a solid core team of four people and we have about 6 ‘satellites’ or workstreams applying themselves to various themes, such as social projects and summer festival. We have just received our first funding, as we are a VZW.
Something about mH is resonating with people.
Our goal is simple: to reach all those people who care about their own personal transformation and also care about the state of the world.
To give those people a sense of community, a place where they can feel both supported and challenged to show up in society with the best version of themselves.
To align those people around a basic message of hope: There is another way.
We humans can do better than this.
This other way involves a balance of ‘inner and work’.
How can I take full responsibility for my own growth and fulfilment while at the same time serving the wider environment? How can I become a ‘big little hero’?
Our journey so far has not been easy! No project has ever challenged me like this one.
A movement has to be collaborative, it takes time and patience, it requires leadership, it requires restraint and holding space, it requires collaboration, it requires yin energy, it requires yang energy… we are still finding our way, with the help of SO much input and personal leadership from the emerging community!
